Pregnancy is an exciting and happy period for many women and their partners. In a period of nine months a complete child will grow in your belly, with everything on it, and you and your partner will prepare yourselves for the birth and for parenthood. During pregnancy we will guide and support you in the medical as well as the personal sphere.

Due date

On the basis of your cycle we can determine when your baby may be expected. This is a target date; only 4% of women actually give birth on that day. Most women give birth between 37 and 42 weeks of pregnancy. That is between 3 weeks before and 2 weeks after the calculated date of birth. Due date calculator

The first check-up will be at about 8 weeks of pregnancy. During pregnancy you will visit our practice 12 times on average. Then we assess the growth of the baby and whether your body is adapting well to the changes that come with pregnancy. We will also give you a lot of information at each check-up. We know, as no one else does, how important it is to be able to get answers to all your questions. That is why there is always plenty of time during surgery to ask your questions, and we have a free seminar on delivery. Read more

If you are pregnant you will be offered various scans. The first scan is often when you have been pregnant for about 8 or 10 weeks. During this scan you can see the heart of the baby beating. Scans are done in our practice at the Nicolaas Witsenkade. The 20-week ultrasound is done in our own specialist scan centre.
